About 36 hours ago our new site design went live on Earth.org with tons of usability improvements. Besides positive feedback from the team and friends, we’re also seeing the results already showing up in our Google Analytics overview. Just to give you an idea of the big step we took forward I’ll share some metrics with you:
Pageviews are up by 93%
Time on site is up by 43%
Pages per visit are up 48%
Bouncerate is down by 11%
These are some really impressive numbers which give us a fantastic view on the effects of the improvements. We have clearly chosen a right path and these numbers are great motivation to keep improving!
Thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to get this done!

Hi five,
and High five!
The new site has attracted my attention, and kudos. I was not familiar with the previous edition.
Where do the advertisements come from? Are they as ethically selected to be compatible or at least benighn to the goals of Earth.org. Perhaps, the ads are counter productive?
Case in point -
Type in destination Grand Canyon.
Which leads to Grand Canyon Village, which is in the park, and has a least one high priced historic hotel in addition to many camp sites, some with coin operated shower rooms.
The motel ads shown with our content, however, are for motels in the “gateway community of Tusayan, which repeatedly rejects incorporation to provide public facilities. Our website listing does little to point out options for ethically oriented travelers, IMHO.
I just finished editing the listing fro Flagstaff, and am only slightly less dissatisfied. Which tour buses run on bio-deisel? Flag city buses are mostly ecologically fueled.
Traveler who approach from Cameron would have a different impact on the local economy, which is one of the things we are concerned with, is it not?
Perhaps we could influence the content of the ads, “We don’t excessively change th sheets on multi day visits.” or something.
The ethical high ground is the big long term selling point, (after survival of course!)
