Hong kong has been selected as “show on homepage” … but that particular highlight doesnt have an image attached, doesnt look too good … I think we should stick to selecting objects for the homepage highlights until we have images for the other types. Not sure who is in charge of this … but could you take care?

@Valentin: What do you think about showing the latest articles uploaded with a few lines of content instead of showing actions of people (someone who modified his profile or an article) on the front page?

yeah the hightlights are meant for that. i hope slobodan finds time to work on this soon. if not here are some words to put it into perspective: the edo homepage is not the big traffic hub that some of you might think it is. Edo is not about destination traffic. its about LONG TAIL: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/illustrating-the-long-tail that means most traffic won’t come via home but via GOOGLE. So even if your article would run through on the homepage very little traffic would come to it – at least for now. In the future think like 1-2 years that might change. And articles linked on home get huge traffic. By that time i am sure slobodan found some time :)

I think I got the point, as people will enter via google, they will not necessarily see the front page. I was thinking of the latest articles on the front page as an attraction point, something take evokes more interest. I already supposed that traffic on our page is not very strong yet.

they almost never see the frontpage. they will go straight to your article :)

and your point is right it is good to have it on the homepage. but not prio 1 good :)

Look what just landed in my inbox…

A: a brilliant example of clear and simple newsletter design to commuicate the key features of a new homepage: http://cdn.rsys3.net/ig.rsys3.net/responsysimages/asw/__RS_CP__/index_mirror_asw_product.html

Our earth.org site re-launch needs something a long these lines!!

@Valentin can you write that post on the blog about what we can expect from the new site for us non-techies? Me and Teresa can then work on perfecting the copy….:-)

had meeting with slobodan over homepage. really pushing hard to finalize it for the launch. we need unfortunatley to stop doing design iterations. i am aware not everybody will be satisfied… but launch is more important to me.

we will most likely have some kind of activity stream plus (maybe semi-) automatic rotation of the highlights coming directly from the might edo db :)
