    Welcome to the new earth.org Blog. Hopefully all old content is migrated at this point.
    If you experience any trouble or miss some of your posts please let me know. All old posts are still existing, but currently connected to a dummy account.

    What to do next?

    - You should first login with your http://wordpress.com user name and password and head over to your profile and complete the data there. My Account->Edit Profile ( see also http://en.support.wordpress.com/geotagging/ )
    - Find the right subscription feature for you possible options – http://en.support.wordpress.com/subscriptions/, http://en.support.wordpress.com/twitter-api/ and http://en.support.wordpress.com/jabber/
    - Check out http://support.wordpress.com for all possible features and tutorials on how to use them.
    - Let me know if you run into any trouble.

      …sill if I login, “Login” is displayed, which is a bit confusing to me… BUT I like the additional menu on top of the page — seems to be even a bit more usable!

        I just copied this thing from the old blog. I also found it a little confusing. If no one is in love with it I am happy to change it

      there are a few names on this list that have been emailed… but others may have non-EDO email accounts. Any way to include these in …..@earth.org?

        Hey Imogen,

        Some of the names there are of competitors joining the discussion as well as other random participant. Let’s not include them in that email address. By the way, please be careful about posting such addresses publicly, we will get spammed very soon. (I edit your post to remove it :)

    In preparation to the Blog migration I did a little P2 stretching to get more familiar with the code. Although it’s not on blog.earth.org you might get some nice ideas of some things we could do design / functionality wise with the new P2 (some restrictions will apply). Check out http://sourcebench.com for some inspiration and use this post to add some ideas and suggestions you might get for the earth.org blog.

    IMPORTANT! Last Call for action – Blog Migration day is coming. So far I received 24 WordPress.com usernames as requested in http://blog.earth.org/2009/11/hi-all-i-would-like-to-migrate-over-to/
    I see 62 active users in the blog (users with posts), which means that the posts of 36 people would be assigned to one dummy account and will not be assigned to their original authors anymore. Do you want this to happen?

    Hi all,
    I would like to migrate over to WordPress.com next weekend (Sat. Nov, 28th). In order to do so I need everyone of you to have a WordPress.com user account. Please create one at http://en.wordpress.com/signup/ (it’s free) and send me the email/username you used for the signup via mail to thorsten (at) earth.org.

    If you do not do this by Saturday Nov, 28th, 8pm GMT your existing posts will be assigned to a dummy user account and will not be assigned to you anymore. :)

      Hi tott… Sorry, confused. I already have a WordPress username (Imogen) but I need to create a new one, because this blog isn’t the same as WordPress.com? And I can’t use my earth.org email address during signup because it’s already taken – by me – correct?

        Hi Imogen, I see that you had the same problems as I and Teresa had. You have to create a new account under http://en.wordpress.com/signup/ with another email.

        I hope that we will communicate the changes in a proper way to Travel Guide Writers and Ambassadors.

        By the way: let us schedule a meeting for today… I will be free probably after 3:30 PM CET

      @tott I tried to register using the edo mail but it says that the mail is already registered, although I was not registered in wordpress.

      Is it normal? Does it depends on my registration here?

        did the same, this is I think because of the gravatar.com website we use? (careful also: wordpress.org and wordpress.com have different user accounts too).

        so try your gravatar.com password.

        Now my login with my Earth.org user account works. Send the details to Thorsten!

          Just to check that I have this right…. Whatever we used to sign up for Gravatar is automatically valid for WordPress, and we simply send that information to Thorsten?
